I was also drawn to the Libra H2O by its main accessory, the SleepCover. The lower end of the spectrum - the Nia and the Clara HD - will get you just the touch screen, while the higher-range Libra and Forma add physical buttons to the mix. Much like Amazon’s e-readers, Rakuten’s Kobo lineup takes the form of a few variations on the same theme - in this case, that theme is an E Ink touchscreen ranging anywhere from 6 inches to 8 inches in diagonal diameter. In the few months since I first picked up Kobo’s Libra H2O, I’ve done more heavy e-book reading than I did in the six years I owned a Kindle.Īnd the best part? None of my book purchases line Jeff Bezos’ pockets (more on this below.) It turns out that my assumptions about the future of reading were naive at best. Then I found out about Kobo’s line of e-readers. For years I read discounted Amazon books and raggedy PDFs on the device, thinking to myself all the while: this is what modern reading feels like. But if the screen on the Sage is a little clearer or might be nice for the books he reads that include diagrams.I’ve owned Amazon’s most basic Kindle - you know, the one with a small-ish touchscreen and not much else - since 2014, when I impulse-bought the e-reader during a Prime Day sale. Especially if that other commenter is correct about the Forma being a little more durable, as we have four kids. Now that I see the Sage, though, I'm sort of torn. So I've been saving up to get him one for Christmas, (the joys of trying to surprise someone you share a bank account with!) Our oldest kids want e-Readers now that they've checked out ours, so if I get him a nicer one we can pass down the Libra. My husband has had the Libra H2O for about a year now and was super jealous of the Forma when I got it. I store it on a high shelf away from other items and when bringing it somewhere carry it incredibly gingerly.□□♀️ Not much to do about it, and not a huge deal. Their FAQ on the subject said that dead pixels was a warranty issue, but dead lines of pixels were damage and not covered, so I've just been dealing with it as lines continue to develop. I had been very careful with it, so I went to Kobo's website to see about maybe replacing it. My only complaint is that within the first month I had lines of dead pixels on the screen. I got my Forma in late June, and use it almost every day. Discussion of DRM removal is allowed for books you have purchased legally but please note that legal requirements for DRM vary by region.
